Questions & Answers
This document contains various questions and answers that we hope will help you as you prepare for the season. If you have any other questions that are not covered here, please send an email and will try to get the answers for you.
1.What towns do you draw athletes from?
The NH Jr Wildcats can accept athletes from Sandown, Hampstead, Raymond, Epping, Kingston, Fremont, Danville, Atkinson, Plaistow, Newton, and Brentwood
2.What is provided for my athlete with registration and what do I need to purchase?
Flag Football Players- Your athlete will receive a jersey, shorts, and socks (nothing needs to be returned) You will need to get cleats and a mouthguard.
Tackle Football Players- Your athlete will receive a Helmet, Shoulder Pads, A Home Jersey, A personalize Away Jersey, Game pants, and a pair of navy socks. (Helmet, Should Pads, Home Jersey, and Game Pants MUST BE RETURN AT END OF SEASON). You will need to provide integrated practice pants, practice jersey, cleats, protective cup, and a mouth guard.
Cheer- Your athlete will receive a Game Day jersey/top, Game Day and Competition hair bows, and navy bloomers to keep; and a competition uniform (top and skirt) which must be returned at the end of the season. Parents must provide white no-show socks, white cheer sneakers, black shorts and black leggings or sweatpants for game day, and a white sports bra/tank top for under the comp uniform. Parents have the option of purchasing an NHJR Cheer warm-up jacket.
3. When does the season start?
This date is determined by the State and is tentatively set for late August. The 1st day of Practice is the end of August 1st.
4. How are Football Players assigned to teams?
The NHJR belong to the NHYFSC – The New Hampshire Youth Football and Spirit Conference of AYF – American Youth Football. The NHYFSC uses an age based system to determine teams. Kids play on a team based on their age.
5. How often does Football practices?
For the first month (during August and prior to Labor Day), practices are Monday-Thursday. After Labor Day, practices are Tuesday-Thursday. Games are on Sundays.
6. How often does Cheer practice?
Cheer teams will practice at Sandlots and follow the tackle football practice schedule prior to Labor Day. After Labor Day, cheer teams will practice three days a week. Practice days and locations will depend on available gym space once cheer teams move indoors. Attendance is mandatory at all cheer practices.
7. When are games scheduled?
The first game of the season will be at the end of August and will continue for a total of 8 games scheduled skipping Labor Day weekend. The games times will not be determined until the game schedule is released by NHYFSC sometime at the end of August.
8. Where are games played?
All home games are played at Our Home Field @ Sandlot Sports. Away games can be scheduled throughout the state of NH with various other AYF programs within the NHYFSC.
9. How are Cheerleaders assigned to cheer teams?
Team placement is determined by the age of the cheerleader as of the league cutoff date. Note: Competition routine skill level will be determined once teams are formed.
10. Which football team will the cheerleading team cheer for?
This will depend on which cheer squads we form but we try to match up the squads to follow like-aged tackle football teams (flag teams will not have cheerleaders). The cheer teams are required to cheer for 8 regular season games and will follow their assigned football teams throughout the playoffs.
11. In which competitions do the cheerleading teams compete?
Cheer teams may compete in up to four invitational competitions in October-November as well as the State Cheer Competition in October, with the possibility of moving on to Regionals and Nationals.
12. Are there any fundraising events?
We have one required fundraiser, in which each family is required to participate in. This fundraiser is the Scratch Ticket Raffle; it is a raffle fundraiser which the winner of the raffle will receive a book of scratch tickets. This is the only required fundraiser and each player must sell or purchase the 10 $10 raffle tickets. It is then up to you whether you sell the tickets or just pay the $100 and just write your name on the tickets.
13. How do I contact Board Members if I have any questions?

14. Is there an Awards Banquet?
At the end of the season there is an Awards Banquet for both the Cheerleading and Football participants along with their families. The banquet is not a fundraising event; parents, players and cheerleaders attending the banquet must purchase a ticket. This banquet is a formal event held at The Castleton in Windham. Tickets usually go on sale at the end of the season, and the banquet is typically held in January.
15. What are my responsibilities as a Parent or Guardian?
Provide or arrange transportation to and from practices, games, and competitions. Provide a drink for games and practices. Volunteer for games as needed to include staffing the grill, providing game day snacks, food donations, announcing games, and chain crews. We will also provide a parent code of conduct at the beginning of the season that sets other expectations.
